Yesterday Fitbit announced their new lineup up of fitness/activity trackers for the 2014/2015 calendar year. These three new devices, the Fitbit Charge, Fitbit Charge HR, and Fitbit Surge, are the culmination of the last year or more of development by the Fitbit team. Here is a quick preview and some of my thoughts on these devices.
It seems like each week brings a new fitness device or activity tracker to the market. Many of these emerging devices attempt to be part smart-watch, part health device. This drives up the price to a level many will never consider spending. Focusing instead on the lower-cost end of the spectrum is the new Misfit Flash. Offering a basic feature set they have one goal: to be a great, entry level activity tracker. And it does so quite nicely!
People keep asking me what I think about the new Garmin Vivosmart. Now that they’ve had a chance to work out most of the bugs with some firmware updates, it was finally time for me to test it against my two favorite fitness/activity trackers, the Misfit Shine and Fitbit Flex.
