On the first day of Spring this year trumpets sounded as I returned to my gear head roots, ditched my Tesla, and picked up a Porsche. (Don’t worry, the wife still has a Tesla Model S). And I figured what better way to start off the season with a new toy, than to take it to the track? Here is my recap!
When I purchased my Tesla Model S 85D back in March it was never intended to be a track car. Granted most of the cars I’ve owned have been a daily driver first and foremost, but honestly, the Tesla wasn’t a car I anticipated doing much with in the way of racing. But when you’re a gear head and a car guy, well… you know where this is going!
Nearing the end of summer in the Midwest means getting your last track events under your belt. Soon the leaves will be falling and the weather will be too cold, and the local road course and drag strips will shut down for the season. With a few new toys under the hood I made it out for what may be one of my final lapping sessions of the year in my Audi.
On July 26, 2014 there was a “fun day” track event at the *new* Nelson Ledges Race Complex. Here is my account of the fun that unfolded, and some videos of my sessions. Enjoy!
